Chairful Parting Words

With the final day of Chairful Where You Sit, a temporary installation of re-imagined chairs by 30 local artists, behind us, I am happy to report that we raised over $2600. I am so grateful for all the community support and the generous donation of talent, time and materials by our local art community. We now are about 2/3 of the way funded for the Spy Pond mural project.

Thanks to YourArlington for coverage of the event.

To quote Dave Ardito, Arlington Public Schools visual art director, "One purpose of increasing public art in Arlington is to demonstrate to children that their town values artistic achievement and that art plays an important role in communication, personal expression and in the quality of life. Children can also be active artistic partners in this effort to make Arlington an even more beautiful place. One of the greatest assets a town can have is its public art and this visible art can reflect the town's heritage, the town's present character and the town's vision for the future."

Well said, Dave.
